Tanks & Fermenters

In 2007, Okanagan Barrel Works hired Eric Fourthon, a Master Cooper from Bordeaux.
Along with his vast experience in coopering barrels, Eric is a highly skilled maker of large capacity oak tanks and fermenters.  To the best of our knowledge, our company is the only North American cooperage actively making these containers for the wine industry.

Constructed of French oak these vessels are available in sizes from 1,000 to 20,000 liters (225 Imp. Gallons / 265 US Gallons to 4,450 Imp. Gallons / 5,250 US Gallons).

Many configurations are possible and fittings can include:

• Oval Front Doors
• Drain and Racking Valves
• Cooling Coils
• Filter Screens
• Bottom (floor) Doors
• Through-tank Thermometers
• Aseptic Bungs and Pressure Valves
• Sampling Taps

New for 2010  !  -  We have a limited supply of American oak for these tanks
and fermenters.  More wood is currently air-drying for
subsequent vintages.
